Escape to Evergreen, only 30 minutes from Denver!

by Lucca Shields

An easy day trip

I’ve had more than a few visitors tell me that they didn’t realize how close Evergreen is to Denver. I guess it sounds like some distant mountain-town dream. And with gas prices looking so abysmal, an attempt to encourage you to travel to the mountains for a day trip might be a little out of touch. I’m here to gently correct your assumptions! We’re 35 minutes from Coors Field, and downtown Evergreen is just 15 minutes up the canyon from Red Rocks! We’re bursting at the seams with unique galleries, cafes, restaurants, and dive bars—-plus endless opportunities for general outdoor frolicking. It’s a perfect pre-concert afternoon.

Colorado’s most unique Fourth of July celebration

Escape the city heat during the hottest holiday of the year, and watch our little community throw a giant Fourth of July festival! We’re celebrating our third annual Foothills Fourth with first-ever music performances on the brand new pavilion at Buchanan Park. Hot features throughout the day include a kids’ bike parade, live chainsaw carving, carnival games, delicious food and drink vendors, and outdoor live music vibes all day long! Advance tickets are $10. After you’re sun-soaked and tired, check out one of our half-dozen independent music venues, local brewpubs, or go for a relaxing turn on a paddleboard rental on Evergreen Lake.

Memorable community events all season long

Foothills Fourth isn’t the only excitement we’ve got goin’ on! Throughout the summer and fall, Evergreen throws outdoor music, art, and food festivals beloved by locals and visitors alike.  Looking for a unique Father’s Day activity? Bring the whole fam up for the Evergreen Rodeo and Parade on Fathers’ Day weekend! The Triple Bypass bike race from Evergreen to Avon on July 11th is an absolute must for cyclist bucket-listers. Need a proper retreat to explore art, jewelry, and clothes? Discover unique finds at Summerfest on July 19th & 20th, a massive art market takeover featuring diverse artists from all across the state. Taste of Evergreen at the Evergreen Lake on September 15th is a foodie’s fever dream: nearly two dozen of the best restaurants, breweries, and bakeries in the foothills offer bites and sips in a creative competition for community crowns! Taste craft chef specialties while enjoying live music and a beautiful mountain sunset… usually with a dash of elk bugling on the golf course nearby. Pretty sweet if you ask me. We’re never short on community events and activities. Discover them all on our events calendar or on our app Everything Evergreen

Come visit us this summer! We’re just up the block (exit 252 off I-70, by the way).
